Spring Secrets: Exploring Cape Cod Cuisine in the Off Season

March 4, 2020

Cape Cod really does have it all – from breathtaking coastal scenery to a thriving cultural scene – no matter what time of year. It’s also known for cutting-edge cuisine, from Falmouth to Provincetown. With spring on the horizon, and restaurants gearing up for the busiest season of the year, now is the perfect time to experience some of the best establishments at a more relaxed pace.

Falmouth

Don’t let the unassuming exterior of C-Salt Wine Bar & Grille fool you – it’s Falmouth’s go-to for everything from decadent casual dining to special occasions. 2020 marks a new chapter with the recent addition of Nat Summerton, former executive chef at Quick’s Hole Tavern. Featuring Asian and French influences in a cozy setting.

Bourne

The Lobster Trap in Bourne has become beloved by residents and tourists equally over the past fifty years. If the long lines intimidate you in the high season, you’re not alone. Quintessentially Cape Cod, featuring a seafood shack, market and bar. The Trap offers a killer Sunday brunch in the off-season, and owner Dave Delancey and his team do catering for events big and small, from weddings to summer clambakes for your family reunion.

Hyannis

The West End (formerly The Paddock) is conveniently located in Hyannis, near the Cape Cod Melody Tent and Barnstable High School, home of the Cape Cod Symphony. Chef Joe Ellia and his team from The Black Dog Heights Cafe and Bear in Boots Gastropub in Falmouth are bringing their unique style to this inviting spot which features locally-sourced, farm-to-table creations and a Sunday jazz brunch.

Yarmouth

Grill 43 in Yarmouth Port, located right on scenic Route 6A, welcomes new chef and co-owner Jeremiah Reardon. His team has been rolling out new menu items that are already receiving rave reviews on social media! Relax over a hibiscus daiquiri and enjoy offerings like Stoney Island mussels, bacon mac and cheese, and a kicked-up version of surf and turf.

Provincetown

In the heart of Provincetown’s bustling Commercial Street is The Canteen. Open seven days, all year long, featuring three-course themed menus on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in the off-season, from French to Vietnamese. Enjoy the ultimate classic for chicken dinners on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from fried to pot pie. Serving up comfort food classics with panache!

We hope you enjoy the fine tastes around Cape Cod!
