Location, location, location!
It’s the mantra of Real Estate. While it is arguably the most universal factor when choosing a new home, at Coastal Point Properties, we believe it is equally important to inform your decision based on the people who make up the geography. Here on Cape Cod, the signature altruistic spirit of the locals is on full display throughout the holiday season, not just on Giving Tuesday. Want to give back to your community? Here are a few of our favorite things:
Nothing says the holidays like Housing Assistance Corporation’s 16th Annual Telethon for Hope, which will be broadcast live from Barnstable High School this Saturday, December 7. Visit their website to find out all the ways you can support HAC’s mission to provide affordable housing on Cape Cod. This year’s telethon will be staged in conjunction with Love Live Local’s LoveLocal Fest: Holiday Edition. The two-day event will feature 125 local crafters, artists and vendors offering unique gifts, and the $5 suggested donation will benefit both HAC and LoveLiveLocal’s Cape Made grant.
The Family Pantry of Cape Cod in Harwich will be making spirits bright by providing gifts and winter clothing to 1,000 local children. New, unwrapped toys may be dropped off until December 9, with additional drop-off locations around town. More information is available on their website regarding monetary donations, which are appreciated any time of year.
Highfield Hall & Gardens will once again offer visitors the chance to pen a note of appreciation to the troops at the 13th Annual Holidays at Highfield, spreading joy to those who can’t be home for the holidays. The annual event also features live performances and a gift gallery in the festively decorated Victorian mansion.
And no matter what Cape Cod community you decide to call home, tis the season for holiday book sales at your local library. You can find just the right gift for everyone on your list, no matter what age, and save a little money while doing so. But don’t let the reasonable price point fool you. Grassroot fundraisers such as these generate vital operating costs for these community treasures, making it a win-win.
